Oconee in position to swing an elbow or two

The rise of State Senator Thomas Alexander of Walhalla to chair of the South Carolina Senate Committee on Labor, Commerce, and Industry should add clout for Oconee’s chances to land a major employer. Because right across the State House lobby, of course, the chairman of the House Labor, Commerce and Industry Committee is none other than Representative Bill Sandifer of Seneca.

As chairmen of those committees, Alexander and Sandifer, perhaps, should be in position to help steer an economic development Oconee-way or, at least put in a good word in Oconee’s behalf. Alexander and Sandifer are moving to the top when it comes to seniority which, in a state such as South Carolina, is still a way to get things done.

That’s our view. What’s yours?
