Oconee Medical Merger Proceeding as Planned

Oconee Medical Center’s Chief Executive Officer says the plans to merge Oconee Medical Center with the Greenville Health System are proceeding as expected. Jeanne Ward says management teams from both health care systems are meeting regularly. Ward says she sees no obstacles to the October 1 closing date. Under the agreement, OconeeMedicalCenter will become part of Greenville Health System under a 50 year lease with renewal options for additional 25-year terms. The merger was approved last month. Oconee Medical Center board of directors was provided with a financial report Monday. Hospital officials say Oconee Medical Center posted a loss of more than $440,000 in June which brings net losses to over $1.3 million for the 9 months of its fiscal year.
