Oconee sewer settlement seen likely

The rift that has stretched years between Oconee County and the separate government entity Oconee Joint Regional Sewer Authority appears to be nearing settlement.  Scott Moulder, county administrator, confirmed today a proposal from the JRSA in which the county would make a one-time payment to the authority that would relieve the county of having to make future payments to the authority of $610 thousand dollars a year.  That one-time payment is believed to amount to $1.9 million.  But the proposal apparently includes more.  According to sources, the “more” could be additional provisions that would re-structure the way sewer service is structured in the county.  Moulder said he has presented the proposal to County Council which, in his words, received the potential new relationship with “high enthusiasm.”
