Oconee Sheriff summarizes a year finished

In 2015, the Oconee Sheriff’s Office received 86,429 calls for service.  Though it was another busy year, Sheriff Mike Crenshaw says he can sense progress is being made after his first three years in office.  Crenshaw told reporters groundwork is being laid to accomplish more in the future in terms of reducing crime and helping individuals who are plagued by the scourge of drug use.  That progress includes an arrangement the county is making with a faith-based group to use the former jail as a place to help rehabilitate those in need.  The numbers of specific crimes seem to mirror from one year to another, but Crenshaw took satisfaction that, in some categories, such as burglaries, the numbers were down.  2015 was a year for accomplishment by individual officers.  Those accomplishments included a handful of officers being able to use their training to help save lives.  During the year, Deputies saved two lives with the use of CPR.
