Oconee to be represented on hospital board

At a meeting yesterday, the Greenville Health System approved nominees for open seats on the board of GHS, along with what are described as broader boards to form a not-for-profit multi-regional system.  GHS oversees the Oconee Memorial Hospital.  All but one of the new board members lives in the Upstate and one with a Greenville background now lives in Kershaw County.  Other new members live in Oconee, Anderson, Pickens, Greenville, Spartanburg, and Laurens counties.  GHS’s attempts to further regionalize face a court challenge from three former GHS board members.  Jim Morton, chairman of the GHS board, says a new petition will be filed with the South Carolina Supreme Court.
