Oconeeans are on the ballot tomorrow

Oconee voters may cast ballots tomorrow from 7 in the morning until 7 at night at their polling locations.  Like voters elsewhere, there are many Oconeeans motivated by the race for President.  Still many observers are sickened by this year’s field and will be glad to get the race behind them.  One is Jim Bohannon, a national radio show host who lives in Oconee County. And, yet normally Bohannon is a political junkie, with a history of following Presidential elections since 1964. As far as Oconee County contests go, the ballot tomorrow is relatively free of contested races.  District Four voters are being asked to choose between incumbent Denise McCormick and challenger Patrick James for the Oconee School Board.  Congressman Jeff Duncan, the Laurens Republican, will try to beat back a challenge from Oconee Democrat Hosea Cleveland for the Third District seat in the U-S House.  Four men are competing for two seats on the Keowee Fire Commission.  Voters within that special fire district are to choose among Don Chamberlain, Leo Primeau, Bill Griffiths, and Mark Flavin.  There are several Oconeeans nominated in the June primary election whose names appear on the ballot tomorrow as un-contested candidates and are asking for the voters to affirm their election to various offices.
