One interview remains

The state police have one more person to be interviewed before completing their investigation into the possibility that a piece of Westminster city equipment was mis-appropriated, according to the city’s police chief.  Dean Awalt, police chief, told 101.7/WGOG NEWS this week that once SLED talks to one more individual, a written report of the investigation will be sent to both him and to the office of David Wagner, the 10th Circuit Solicitor.  Late last year Chris Carter, Westminster city administrator, reported to the city council the results of his investigation into whether there was a criminal conversion of a city-owned wood chipper, which was loaned to the Pioneer Rural Water District.  Carter started his investigation after concerns were voiced to him by Councilwoman Susan Ramey, but he concluded no criminal conversion had taken place.  The city administrator gave the mayor and the council the option of requesting a state investigation.  Dissastisfied, Ramey announced she possessed a tape recording and would play the tape for Awalt that proved a chipper was loaned for outside use but quickly returned once questions were asked.  Awalt then turned to SLED, the state Law Enforcement Division.
