Party gives Congress nod to retired teacher

Two Oconee Democrats are running this year for the U-S House of Representatives, but their county party is endorsing only one of the two. An announcement today from Rosellen Aleguire, party chairwoman, says, “The Oconee County Democratic Party has endorsed Ms. Barbara Jo Mullis as its candidate for US House of Representatives, District 3, currently held by Republican Jeff Duncan.” Mullis is a retired Seneca High School teacher who, the party says, brings a strong background in science and public education which has motivated her to seek common sense progressive responses to the challenges of energy policy, raising standards of public education and adapting to the changing needs of a modern society. A second Democrat, Hosea Cleveland of Seneca, also seeks his party’s nomination in the June 10 primary.
