Pickens deputy sheriff sued over Walhalla car accident

A car accident a year ago in Walhalla is the subject of a lawsuit in the Oconee Common Pleas County.  The complaint, filed for Oconee resident Mahlon Young Meredith, seeks damages against Pickens County and deputy sheriff Charlotte Tant Suddeth.  It alleges that Suddeth was driving a 2001 Ford belonging to Pickens County that “failed to stop and/or yield tight-of-way” to a 2011 Pontiac driven by Meredith.  The accident occurred August 19, 2016 at Walhalla’s Church and West South Broad streets.  The lawsuit claims Meredith sustained severe and painful injuries.
