Pickens state senator recognized by MADD SC

Mothers Against Drunk Driving in South Carolina has included State Senator Larry Martin of Pickens as one of its legislative champions for his role as an advocate for Emma’s Law. MADD named Martin as one of seven South Carolina state lawmakers for promoting effective DUI countermeasures—such as ignition interlocks for all convicted drunken drivers. Martin is credited with helping advance Emma’s Law which requires the locks for all repeat and first-time offenders with a breathalyzer reading of .12 or higher. Before the Campaign to Eliminate Drunk Driving, only New Mexico required ignition interlocks. South Carolina now requires them for repeat offenders.
