Pioneer points to Georgia meeting next week

Snow covers the ground now, but leaders of the Pioneer Rural Water District look forward to better times in a few days—-including an important meeting next week at Hartwell, Georgia. The water and sewer board in Hart County meets Monday and is expected to again take up Pioneer’s request to be allowed to draw water from Lake Hartwell, using Hart County’s permit from the federal government. The board last month received a presentation from Pioneer officials. Permission is regarded as key for Pioneer as it proceeds in the planning stages to build the district’s first treatment plant. Pioneer is a retail water supplier for parts of Oconee and Anderson counties.
