Plan for the future of passenger rail service

A glimpse of what the future holds for passenger rail service can be seen in Greer today during what’s called a public scoping meeting. From 4 to 7 this evening at 301 Poinsett Street Hall “C” the focus will be the development of a passenger rail corridor plan for new service—between Atlanta and Charlotte. Doug Frate of the SC Department of Transportation says it’s this type of meeting that’ll address at what speeds future trains will pass through. We asked Frate what kinds of comments and questions that mayors and city and county council members are making about the potential for high-speed rail and the impact to their areas. Frate’s reply to that question is being aired today on 96.3/WGOG NEWS.
