Plan rid Upstate creeks of bacteria

The first stakeholders’ meeting for a plan to remove bacteria from the creeks of Upstate South Carolina takes place next month in Central.  Clemson cooperative Extension is among one dozen partners at work on the “Twelve Mile, Eighteen Mile and Golden Creek Watershed Plan.”  The goal is to clean up bacteria pollution in those watercourses.  The public is encouraged to attend the meeting—from 6 to 7 o’clock Thursday night, February 4 on the campus of Southern Wesleyan University.  Rocky Nation, professor of biology and chair of the Science Division at Southern Wesleyan, makes the point that while the region is blessed with a wealth of water resources, quantity doesn’t always mean quality.  The Twelve Mile, Eighteen Mile and Golden Creek watersheds eventually drain into Lake Hartwell.
