Planned Oconee development to be unique

The large church, along with a major business development, proposed for Oconee County property near Clemson will be unprecedented in South Carolina, from the standpoint of the national development company behind what is being called Hartwell Village.  The project is saiod to bep pursuing a hotel, a restaurant, and a movie theatre among other types of business.  Richard Blackwell, executive director of the Oconee Economic Alliance, used that characterization today to say that Oconee’s strong economic numbers have influenced the decision by the national real estate-development company Casto to get involved in the project.  According to Blackwell, about 150 other jobs that are promised to Oconee County translate into Oconee getting 20% of all the new jobs that have been announced statewide.
