Plans announced for Seneca election

Seneca will get political early next year. The city’s next election takes place Tuesday, March 11—when Seneca voters get to fill four seats on their eight-member city council. Up for grabs are the four-year terms of Scott Durham, Joel Ward, Ernest Riley, and Andrea Alewine. All four are eligible to seek re-election. The 2014 election will be the first to be conducted for Seneca by the Oconee elections office. And City Attorney Michael Smith says that means those who plan to run must register with the county elections office in the county’s office complex on South Pine Street. Candidate qualifying will run from noon January 6 until noon January 17.
