Power rate decrease ahead for Westminster

In a city known for high electric power rates, the charge will drop starting next week.  Westminster City Council approved a new power rate structure that applies to in-city customers.  The new structure has one basic residential rate of 14.37 cents per kilowatt-hour, and eliminates the former two-tiered rate structure.  The decrease will be even greater for those customers who are part of a program to have regulators that, during peak load times, allows the city to reduce a customer’s usage.  The new rates go into effect on October 1.
