Primary hopefuls asked to wait at least a day

Oconee County Democrats gather in convention tomorrow and, across the state, the official start of qualifying for this year’s primary elections is Sunday. But, in Oconee County, Sunday is a holiday for government offices, so the elections office is asking all Oconeeans—Democrat and Republican—-who intend to qualify to wait at least one day. The county elections office at Pine Street will be open regular hours Monday. The filing period will last two weeks. On its final weekend, the Oconee office plans to be open 8 a-m to noon Saturday and Sunday, March 29 and 30 for those who want to file on that last weekend.
