PRT commissioners dole out the money

In a noon hour meeting today, Oconee’s PRT commissioners doled out nearly 40 thousand worth of ATAX funds to 15 applicants. The largest approvals were $84 hundred dollars to Walhalla Civic Auditorium toward auditorium roof work and $5,900 to the city of Seneca to advertise Seneca Fest. Two applications were referred for the next cycle of accommodations tax monies. They were Seneca’s request for $2,500 for its Bertha Lee Strickland Museum project and $2,500 for the project to create a 9-11 Memorial on highway 11. According to Phil Shirley, PRT director, the commissioners’ actions are in the form of recommendations to be forward to the March 19 meeting of Oconee County Council.
