PRWD grant and loan approval possible next month

An engineering consultant said this afternoon everything is poised for the federal government to approve a combination loan and grant to allow Pioneer Rural Water District the funds to build its first treatment plant. According to Chuck Joye, a loan application for $11.2 million and a grant request for $2.7 million have been sent by the South Carolina office of the USDA to Washington. And Joye predicts the approval could be announced as early as Pioneer’s annual meeting July 9. Oconee County Council tonight is scheduled to approve the sale of parcels inside the Golden Corner Commerce Park for the water treatment plant construction.
