Qualifying activity in two municipalities

The office of Oconee Elections reports some qualifying activity for this year’s municipal elections in Walhalla and Westminster.  Incumbents Yousef Mefleh and Bill Brockington have joined challenger Eddie Turner in running for three, four-year city council terms in Westminster.  So far, there are no takers for a fourth seat that comes with two years remaining.  In Walhalla, the candidate field for three council seats remains unchanged.  The two candidates there, so far, are newcomers Josh Roberts and Dennis Owens.  The qualifying deadline for both of the November 7 elections is noon this Monday.  Candidates must qualify with the county elections office on Pine Street.
