Rain brings fire relief, Pinnacle containment above 60%

Two inches of rain have dampened some of the Pinnacle Mountain fire in Pickens County, but the rain has forced the grounding of aircraft and has kept fire fighters away from the containment lines. Higher humidity levels slowed the fire’s progress and allowed hand crews to get some much needed rest before heading back out to shore up the perimeter.  According to the incident command, crews will likely be held off lines again todayas trails remain slick and travel difficult. Once the storm front passes, they will assess needs and allocate crews and resources. Containment is now pegged at higher than 60%.
