Razorbacks, Warriors, both fall 49-0 in region openers

In 96.3 WGOG’s High School Game of the Week on Friday, the Walhalla Razorbacks opened play in Western AAA by hosting the Seneca Bobcats. The home-crowd saw Seneca’s offense rack up 49 points, and its defense hold Walhalla scoreless. All of the scoring occurred in the first half, as Seneca coach Wayne Green sat his starters for the final two quarters. The Blue Ridge Bank Player of the Game was Marquis Hunter, who was responsible for 3 of Seneca’s seven touchdowns. Walhalla struggled to put anything together on offense, as a much improved Seneca defense held the Razors to -14 yards in the first half and only limited yardage in the second. Next week, Seneca continues region play as they travel to Powdersville to take on Wren. The Golden Hurricanes were 49-28 winners over Emerald on Friday. Things get no easier for Walhalla, as they hit the road to take on Belton-Honea Path, who defeated Palmetto 84-0 on Friday.

Elsewhere last night, West-Oak opened region play with a 49-0 loss to top-ranked Daniel. Next week, the Warriors travel to Greenwood County to take on Emerald.

WGOG will head to Cunningham Stadium in Pendleton next week as the Bulldogs take on Blacksburg. Coverage will begin at 7:00 PM with the Northland Communications Pregame Show.
