Razorbacks Win Season Opener
It was a typical nail-biting game Friday night between rival high schools, Walhalla and West-Oak. In the end, the Razorbacks christened their new facility in Picket Post with a 20-19 win over the Warriors from Westminster. The Razorback defense made the difference, forcing three turnovers, including an interception returned 90 yards for a score in the third quarter. West-Oak drove into Walhalla territory late in the game following an onside kick only to see a bad hand-off exchange on third down and a batted down pass on 4th down to secure the win for Walhalla. Starting at quarterback for Walhalla was Corey Donald, who was pulled after two drives. Senior Tyler Abercrombie took over and coach Jeremy Grogan will decide this week which gets the start at Landrum next Friday. We’ll begin coverage next Friday night at 6:30 with the Excel Rehab & Sports Coaches Show.
Elsewhere Friday, Seneca opened the season with a 56-27 win over the Greenville Red Raiders. Bobcat running back Braxton Gambrell rushed for 312 yards and three touchdowns. Jacory Benson also found the endzone three times with a total of 82 yards.
