Recovery depletes Red Cross budget

The effort to retrieve a body from the Chattooga River has been a costly one to the Oconee Chapter of the American Red Cross. County Councilman Wayne McCall says he spoke Wednesday to Kathy Rogers, Red Cross chapter executive director, who told him that the support her office has given the recovery operation has emptied the office budget. According to McCall, everyone should consider donating to the Red Cross to help it carry out its important humanitarian obligations, and he will ask his council colleagues to allocate funds from the county contingency fund to help the Red Cross.
