Remember safety when outdoors!

The U-S Army Corps of Engineers and other boating safety advocates are promoting National Safe Boating Week. According to Coast Guard statistics, recreation boating accidents last year in the U-S accounted for 560 deaths, 2,620 injuries and about $39 million of damage to property. So far, the corps has recorded no recreation-related fatalities at its lake and dam projects on the Savannah River. The most recent fatality occurred at Lake Hartwell October 5, 2013 when an adult male fell overboard from a pontoon boat while having a seizure. He was not wearing a life jacket.
