Rotarians hear the life of a federal judge

An Oconeean who presides over one of the highest courts in the land told of his new life today as a federal court judge. Tim Cain, guest speaker at the Walhalla Rotary Club, talked about the process of being appointed by the White House, described how the federal court system works, and gave examples of the kinds of cases that go before him. Cain provoked some laughter in re-telling what happened when FBI agents went knocking on the doors of Cain’s neighbors, as part of the vetting process that all candidates for federal judgeships undergo. About his approximate one year in what virtually is a life time appointment, Cain said, “I’ve enjoyed it. It is challenging.”
