Safety and security checks at Oconee airport

State and federal agencies have recently completed safety and security inspections at the Oconee Regional Airport near Clemson.  And, for an airport the size of Oconee, the results are deemed favorable.  The airport’s first-year manager, Jeff Garrison, gave a report last night to a meeting of the county aeronautics commissioners.  Classified as a general aviation facility, the Oconee airport does not require metal detector equipment such as that which is commonplace at larger airports across the country.  Yet, according to information heard last night, whenever nearby Clemson University plays a Saturday home football game, the Oconee airport is busier than Greenville-Spartanburg.
