Salem man arrested in car theft case

A 53-year old Salem man has been arrested in the investigation of a car stolen more than two months ago from a parking space at the Seneca Wal-Mart. According to Oconee Sheriff’s Department records, Richard Claude Dills was arrested Saturday and charged with grand larceny. Dills had been listed a suspect in the department’s investigation of the June 27 theft of a 1993 Ford Taurus. The investigating officer quoted the victim as  saying she left the car locked with the keys in the ignition as she and two family members went inside the store. When they came back, the car was gone. The victim said her car contained her checkbook, a revolver, and three thousand dollars cash left in the glove compartment.
