SAT scores slip

2012 SAT (Scholastic Aptitude Test) scores are being released statewide for graduating high school seniors. They are down a little this year. Oconee’s graduating seniors mirrored the trend. The mean score performance in the Oconee district, however, exceeded state performance in critical reading, math and composite, according to an announcement by the county’s public schools. In a listing of the state’s top performing districts, led by York 4 – Fort Mill, Oconee ranked 19th with a composite score of 1446. The State Department of Education acknowledged the SAT scores decline, but said South Carolina students improved on college level Advance Placement exams and more students than ever took the college-credit granting exams.
