SC gets $1 million to train dis-located workers

The S-C Department of Employment and Workforce has been awarded $1.2 million from the U-S Department of Labor to provide 223 dis-located persons with classroom and on-the-job training. More than $55 thousand of the money was awarded to Worklink, serving Oconee, Anderson and Pickens counties. According to the DEW, the grant funding is for expanded training of dis-located workers so they can acquire industry-recognized credentials that lead to new career opportunities. And training efforts are to be prioritized for workers who have been unemployed for 27 weeks or longer and those likely to exhaust unemployment benefits.
