School opening “very few problems”

A new year of academic enrichment opened yesterday across the Oconee School District, and Superintendent Dr. Michael Thorsland called it an opening with “very few problems”–apart from lines of drop-off vehicles outside the schools and some uncertainty over bus routes. An opening day of attendance was recorded, 10,081 students including more than one thousand at the second-year Walhalla High School.  This is the first year that former Tamassee-Salem middle and high school age students are in the Walhalla attendance zone.
