School test scores released

Oconee public schools are reporting a 15-point increase on the SATs—Scholastic Aptitude scores—taken by county students in 2015.  Dr. Michael Thorsland, superintendent, says, “The district scored above national and state norms….We are particularly happy,” Thorsland said, “to see the significant improvement at West-Oak High School, including an increase in both Writing and Critical Reading scores.”  The “SATs” are designed to assess a student’s academic readiness for college.  The AP—Advanced Placement—scores for 2014 were also released.  AP classes prepare students for the national exams.
