Schools plan to run tomorrow!

Despite the extreme cold gripping the area, Oconee public schools plan regular hours tomorrow. An announcement this afternoon from the school district states that consideration was given to a delay, but temperatures are not expected to rise appreciably in the morning. The statement reads: “….we have taken the necessary steps to ensure a warm and safe environment when children arrive tomorrow. Getting students to school on a regular schedule where breakfast and lunch could be served was deemed the best decision considering that most parents will have to work.” Among the suggestions and information offered by the district: send students to school with several layers of clothing. Bus students should stay inside while waiting for the bus. Principals will monitor temperatures and adjust the length and location of recess as needed.
