Second lawsuit to be filed against law enforcement

A second lawsuit is being filed by a Walhalla attorney against the Seneca Police.  This time, however, the Oconee Sheriff’s Office is being included as a defendant.  Attorney Keith Denny’s news conference to explain takes place tomorrow morning.  In a statement yesterday, he said, “Each of these unrelated cases highlight systematic abuses in law enforcement that directly resulted in the Plaintiffs having their constitutionally protected freedoms stripped.  These suits are not an attack on law enforcement,” Denny said. “Rather the, they highlight glaring deficiencies in the execution of warrants, negligent law enforcement supervision and training, the intentional inappropriate conduct of officers, and the failures of our local system of law enforcement that should have as its priority to serve and protect all members of the community….”  The first lawsuit has been identified as a claim against Seneca for Tory Diana Morton, arrested in 2015 as part of the incident in which Zachary Hammond was shot dead.
