Seneca accepts insurance settlement

After a closed-door meeting, Seneca City Council accepted cash payouts to cover the loss of a passenger bus consumed by fire while being repaired at a factory.   On a motion by Stuart Pohl, the city’s elected leaders accepted $765 thousand dollars from bus-maker Proterra, along with $38 thousand dollars from the South Carolina Insurance Fund.  According to Michael Smith, city attorney, Seneca sent one of its buses to Proterra’s factory for repairs.  While there a fire broke out and the bus was destroyed.  The fire occurred in Greenville, Smith said, several months ago.
