Seneca opens Greenville bank account

Seneca will open a bank account from which a hotel developer may draw funds to pay bills as construction proceeds. Meantime, the city has announced that the groundbreaking for its Hampton Inn and Suites will take place at 10 o’clock Monday morning. During a special meeting, the city council last night approved Mayor Dan Alexander’s recommendation for Seneca to establish the account with Park Sterling Bank of Greenville. Afterward, City Administrator Greg Dietterick told 96.3/WGOG NEWS the account will maintain the two million dollars which both the city and the county are providing as incentives for the project by Pickens County resident Sanjay Desai, owner of Clemson’s Hampton Inn. In a later action last night, the council approved three deeds involving small pieces of property on or near Old Salem Road, part of which is being relocated in advance of the hotel project.
