Seneca principal resigns

Idasa CobbOconee School District has released the following statement pertaining to Principal Idasa Cobb: “The principal at Blue Ridge Elementary School was placed on administrative leave, with pay, earlier this week. The principal has submitted her resignation to the School District of Oconee County, and there is a pending investigation by law enforcement. The principal has been charged with failure of certain persons required to report child abuse or neglect. The allegations of child abuse do not involve a District employee and they are not alleged to have occurred at school. The District is fully cooperating with law enforcement in its investigation and cannot comment further given the ongoing investigation and confidential student issues involved. Kathy Eichler,, who previously served as principal of Blue Ridge and Code elementary schools, will serve as Interim Principal for the time being.” Seneca Police Major Jeremy Rothell says a warrant, issued by City Judge Danny Singleton and signed by school resource officer Casey Bowling, was obtained yesterday. Cobb, 41, was booked at the Oconee Detention Center yesterday afternoon. Rothell says the police will make a further statement about the case today.
