Seneca real estate holdings grow

The donation by a bank of a building and property in foreclosure will allow Seneca to grow its real estate holdings.  In a special meeting, the city council moved to accept Blue Ridge Bank’s gift of the building and property at 416 E. Main Street.  City Administrator Greg Dietterick said the red-colored building there is appealing to the city because it is nearby and connected by a parking lot to the former Hometown Food Store building and property recently purchased by the city.  Dietterick told the mayor and council to be prepared later this month to talk about ideas for the use of the building.  Part of the motion that allows Dietterick or Mayor Dan Alexander to sign the papers allocates $10,500 dollars from available city funds to cover expenses associated with the donation.
