Seneca receives audit report

An auditor has given Seneca an unqualified opinion for its financial records covering the budget year that ended June 30 last year. City Clerk-Treasurer Joel Seavey says outside auditor Mike Stancil’s report was given last week, during city council’s regular March meeting. “Which means,” Seavey says, “there were no internal control problems or weaknesses that he found….” At the end of 2011-12, the Light and Water Plant recorded a gain of $137 thousand, while city government showed a loss of $1.3 million. According to Seavey, the general government loss reflected what Seneca drew from savings and spent on “big projects.” The Seneca audit may be accessed on the web at www.seneca.sc.us.
