Seneca seeks funds for N. Townville phase two

Total cost for another phase of re-building Seneca’s North Townville Street is estimated at upwards of $700 thousand dollars, but at least one member of the county’s state “C” fund committee is wondering if the second phase of the project can be reduced in size for budgeting purposes. Richard Cottingham today said he’s worried that the total overall cost of $787 thousand will take too large of a bite out of the committee’s budget for 2015-16. In the waning days of this legislative session in Columbia, the uncertainty over what the state will approve for roads and bridges makes uncertain how much Oconee’s “C” fund committee will be able to spend over the next 12 months. Cottingham today asked Bob Faires, Seneca utilities director, to find out whether the second phase of the N. Townville project could be cut in size or whether the city could contribute money of its own toward the work.
