Seneca to make counter offer

A counter proposal by Seneca is headed for the city’s wholesale water customer Pioneer Rural Water District. Seneca leaders held most of their comments about an apparent snag in the negotiations for their closed-door meeting last night that stretched one and a half hours. Part of the reason for meeting privately dealt with the search for a new administrator. In open session, the city council approved sending a counter proposal contract, once it is reviewed by the city attorney. Earlier this week the Pioneer board requested Seneca lower its proposed wholesale charge and grant relief from other considerations in the next contract. After last night’s meeting, Mayor Dan Alexander said, “We’re trying to see if we can work together to see if we can resolve this.” A second extension by Seneca to arrive at a new supply arrangement expires next week, but Alexander last night did not directly address a question of whether his city would cut off Pioneer’s supply if no deal is reached.
