Seneca’s Faires endorses new license for hydro plant

Seneca’s Bob Faires says he would like to see the federal government re-license a small hydro-electric plant south of the city limit.  Seneca receives the bulk of its wholesale electric power supply thru its contract with Santee Cooper, the South Carolina Public Service Authority.  But a small portion of the city’s retail power comes thru a hookup with the Coneross hydro plant on SC 59.  Corporate-owned, the hydro plant is in the business of generating green power and has embarked on the process of asking the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission to grant a new, 30-year operating license.  Coneross Power Corporation is a subsidiary of Enel Green Power North America.
