Sex with a child alleged

A young Walhalla man awaited a bond hearing yesterday after being charged with criminal sexual conduct with a minor.  The Sheriff’s Office identified the victim as a 10-year old girl.  A warrant obtained by Sgt. Tim Rice, child and elder abuse investigator, alleges Isai Vazquez of Walhalla’s Verner Street inappropriately touched the girl in the Westminster area.  Though the offense alleged a crime in the third degree, the charge is a felony and, according to the Sheriff’s Office, a conviction subjects the 21-year old defendant to a term of not more than 15 years in prison or a fine, or both.
