Sheriff’s Office reports drug arrests

Oconee Sheriff’s Office reports three drug arrests since Thursday afternoon. In each instance, arresting officers say their attention was alerted by either erratic driving or a vehicle violation. At 12:44 a-m Friday, a deputy stopped a Jeep Cherokee on the West-Oak Highway with no rear tailights. That stop led to the arrest of Jerry Lynn Wooten, 52, of Fern Drive, Westminster on charges of methamphetamine possession and possession of a controlled substance. Wooten was also handed a courtesy summons for no tail lights, according to Sheriff’s Office announcement. Thursday afternoon a Subaru automobile was stopped on W. Spearman Road near Little Choesteoa Road. A deputy says he saw the Subaru cross the center line twice on W. Spearman. There, deputies arrested two West Virginia residents—Christine Gail Borden and Clayton David Kerns II, both of Ravenwood, West Virginia—on charges of marijuana possession, possession of ecstasy, possession of Lortab, and possession of a schedule II drug. Deputies say they collected bags of what they believe to be marijuana, along with pills and drug paraphernalia.
