Special fund to address hardship cases

A committee of citizens in Westminster has succeeded in creating a special fund to help those who are pressed to pay their electric power bills.  After hearing Teresa Bryson, representing the citizen-formed utility committee, the mayor and council gave their blessing to a roundup fund, provided any legal concerns are satisfied by their attorney.  The city’s electric power customers have the option to allow the city to round off their monthly bill to the next highest dollar.  The pennies gleaned from that are to go into a “round up” fund which the committee will draw from to help other power customers facing hardship.  As Bryson explained, the committee will decide which customers are worthy of the assistance.
