Tax bills to hit the mail

The U-S mail next week can expect to process as many as 74,000 Oconee County tax bills that’ll make their way from Columbia to county property owners. Those bills, printed for Oconee County by Lazer Print Plus in the Capital City, are a reminder of season’s change as much as they are a reminder of a citizen’s obligation to help pay the cost of the county’s public services. They are payable on receipt, but no penalty applies until after the middle of January. Oconee Auditor Ken Nix says his office contracts to print the bills. The next door office of Oconee Treasurer Greg Nowell is the one that collects the bills.
