Textbook comes to life at water plant

Nine members of a Clemson University environmental engineering class and their professor toured the Seneca Water Plant at Normandy Shores.  Steve Fletcher, treatment plant manager, said the class learned the benefits of Seneca’s new on-site generated sodium hypo-chlorite disinfectant compared with the old process that used hazardous chlorine gas.  In the city’s newsletter, Fletcher says, “We are a split plant, meaning that we operate a conventional treatment process as well as a dissolved air flotation process.”
