The defense rests, defendant does not testify

The trial in Florida of an Oconee man charged with murder has recessed for the weekend. It did so as the defense of Michael Rice rested, without calling the defendant as a witness. The defense has sought to make the case that the shooting of Phillipe Nahon resulted from temporary insanity. According to Florida newspaperman Drew Winchester, the way Monday shapes up in the Sarasota County courtroom the jury could take the case to their room for deliberations as early as 1 o’clock Monday afternoon.
