Tigers take three game lead over Yankees

The Detroit Tigers beat the New York Yankees 2-1 Tuesday night in Detroit to take a 3-0 lead in the American League Championship Series and put themselves just one win away from advancing to the World Series with a sweep. Tigers ace Justin Verlander took a two-hit shutout into the ninth inning, which is when the slumping Yankees got their only run on a solo homer by Eduardo Nunez. Game 4 will be played Wednesday night in the Motor City.
