Timetable for the Bountyland fire station

Members of Oconee County Council were told last night that the current hope is to start construction of a Bountyland fire substation in six months.  That substation, according to County Administrator Scott Moulder, would be built on an alternate piece of property.  Moulder told the council’s real estate committee that a parcel of property adjoining the Quick Jobs Center has been deemed unsatisfactory because of line of sight for fire trucks entering and leaving the property.  Instead the county is now looking at an alternate property on S. Cove Road, owned by the school district.  Moulder also said because the substation will cost in excess of $375 thousand dollars, the state will require the county to bid the work to a private contractor.
